A Former City on the South Bank
Manchester was its own independent city until it merged with Richmond in 1910. It shipped tobacco from its wharves, and Midlothian coal arrived there on Virginia’s first railroad in 1831. Hurricane Agnes flooded it in 1972.
Its warehouses have since been converted into apartments, which brings the same move-out logistics as downtown: reserved elevators, managed loading and insurance certificates.
