β€œHad a plan AND morning confirmation with [another junk remover] and they canceled last minute, an hour before. I was in a bind, and I called & texted the folks at JunkRabbit. They were fast, courteous and available on short notice.”

What Old Richmond Houses Give Up

  • Plaster and lath from gutted walls
  • Cast-iron tubs and radiators
  • Wall-to-wall carpet over original floors
  • Old kitchen cabinets and countertops
  • Brick from chimneys and garden walls

Where the Renovation Work Is

Church Hill

Decades of decline followed by rapid rehab, flip after flip on the hill.

Northside

Early-1900s frame and brick houses in Highland Park and Brookland Park being fixed up.

Jackson Ward

Historic rowhouses in a National Historic Landmark district, restored room by room.

The Tri-Cities

Old Towne Petersburg’s revival and Hopewell’s worker houses from its boom years.

Storm, Flood and Tree Debris

Hurricane remnants and derechos come through between June and November. The James has flooded low ground before: Agnes swamped Manchester in 1972, and Gaston’s 2004 rains flooded Shockoe Creek despite the 1995 floodwall.

Flooded Basements

Soaked carpet, furniture and boxes carried up and out before mold sets in.

Downed Limbs

City brush has to be cut to four-foot lengths; we take longer limbs and larger piles as a load.

Yard Waste

Priced by the cubic yard at $88 when it’s more than a few bags.

What We Don’t Do

Tree felling and stump grinding need a tree service. We haul what’s already on the ground.

Construction Debris FAQs

Will the City of Richmond pick up renovation debris?

No. Bulk and brush excludes construction debris, carpet, drywall, bricks and pipes, so those need a private hauler or a trip to a disposal site that accepts them.

How is a gut renovation priced?

By truck-fill: $241 for a quarter truck, $431 for half, $732 for a full load. Brick and concrete are priced per quarter truck at $219.

Can you take a cast-iron tub up from a basement bathroom?

Yes. A cast-iron tub is $185; the crew brings the equipment for the weight.

Do you work alongside my contractor?

Yes. Many owners book us for demo day or a mid-project clear-out so the contractor keeps working.

Is a roll-off dumpster better?

For a long project with steady debris, sometimes. For a one-day clear-out, or a narrow historic street where a container can’t sit, truck-fill is usually simpler.

Mid-Renovation?

Photograph the pile β€” a flat truck-fill price comes back in seconds.
